Cricket is one of the most popular sports not only in India but also in many other countries. There are many forms of cricket that are played all over the world like Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODI), T20 Internationals (T20I), State level matches, Club level matches, etc. Generally, all the cricket world cups are watched very enthusiastically by the audience all over the world.
The ICC Men's ODI Cricket World Cup is a very famous tournament, which is a quadrennial championship event in ODI cricket. This tournament is organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), every four years, with some qualifying rounds and then the main league matches leading up to the finals. Similarly, the Men's T20 Internationals World Cup and the Champions Trophy are played at regular intevals.
The Men's ODI Cricket World Cup was started in 1975 in England with 8 teams participating in it. The first Cricket world cup was won by the West Indies by beating Australia at Lord's in London. Till now, 13 ODI World Cup tournaments were held. Australia has won the maximum number of ODI cricket world cups by winning 6 times, India and the West Indies have won the tournaments twice each, whereas Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England have won the world cup once each. The Men's T20 Internationals cricket World Cup tournament is organised by the ICC for every 2 years. The T20I World Cup was started in 2007 in South Africa with 12 teams participating in it. The first T20I world cup was won by India by beating Pakistan at The Wanderers in Johannesburg. Till now, 9 T20I World Cup tournaments were held. India, England and West Indies have won the T20I world cups twice each, whereas Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia have won the tournament once each. The ICC Men's Champions Trophy, started as the ICC Knockout Trophy at the beginning, is organised by the ICC. It is initially a biennial ODI cricket tournament and later converted into a quadrennial tournament after T20I world cup was started. The Men's Champions Trophy was started in 1998 in Bangladesh with 9 teams participating in it. The first Champions Trophy was won by South Africa by beating the West Indies at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Till now, 8 Champions Trophy tournaments were held. India and Australia have won the Champions Trophies twice each, whereas South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan have won the trophy once each.
